What in Earth Is a Green Burial ?

Wednesday, April 266:30—8:30 PMCommunity RoomGoodnow Library21 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA, 01776

Please join other adults for an overview presentation on ‘green burials’ – co-hosted and led by Andover resident Richard Davis,  Candace Currie, Director, Green Burial Council & Mount Auburn Cemetery, and Ruth Faas, owner of Mourning Dove Studio of Arlington, MA.

From the Civil War through today, American funeral practices have evolved into a highly formalized, cost intensive, and environmentally challenging industry.  Green burials can provide a meaningful, economical, and aesthetic means for honoring the dead and providing families and friends with a new (yet traditional) framework for funeral customs and practices.

The evening will feature a video of a green cemetery, with an actual burial and service, as well as a slide show of a green cemetery in central Maine.

There will be a demonstration of some biodegradable, ecologically-sound caskets made of cardboard and wicker.

Please attend if you are interested in learning about this low impact, environmentally friendly, and very much legal means of caring for the deceased.
