Inspired by PBS' The Great American Read, we will spend each month reading and discussing a book from the list of America's 100 most-loved books.

For October, let's read and talk about A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith.
  The story follows an impoverished but aspirational adolescent girl and her family living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City, during the first two decades of the 20th century.
