The Goodnow Library, together with others in the community, believes that promoting the seeking of knowledge and information leads to understanding and empathy. As a result we are launching a new community wide series called Sudbury CARES (Community Alliance for Race Education Series).
This group was formed to create a space for everyone in our community to discuss and learn about racism, causes of systemic racism, and what can be done to counteract it.
 Our goal is to learn and explore together, in a safe space where all voices are heard and listened to with respect.

For September we will be discussing the documentary, American Denial. Follow the story of Swedish researcher Gunnar Myrdal whose landmark 1944 study, An American Dilemma, probed deep into the United States' racial psyche. The film weaves a narrative that exposes some of the potential underlying causes of racial biases still rooted in America’s systems and institutions today
