Kids in grades 4 & 5 are invited to join our third children's program in the Sudbury CARES series:  the Goodnow Kids Book Discussion of One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia.

One Crazy Summer is the story of 11-year-old Delphine and her younger sisters, who travel to California in 1968, to meet the mother who left them for a radical new life. She sends them to day camp run by the Black Panthers where they learn much about their family, their country, and themselves during one truly crazy summer. One Crazy Summer won a Newbery Honor, a Coretta Scott King Award, and was a National Book Award Finalist.

One Crazy Summer is available for free download through Hoopla.

Sudbury CARES (Community Anti-Racism Education Series) is a community-wide initiative formed to create a space for everyone in our community to discuss and learn about racism, causes of systemic racism, and what can be done to counteract it.
