Kids in grades 4 & 5 are invited to join our sixth children's program in the Sudbury CARES series: the Goodnow Kids Book Discussion of Clean Getaway by Nic Stone. Clean Getaway is part history lesson, part road trip as biracial 12-year-old Scoob heads off on a road trip through the South with his beloved grandmother. He mostly goes to escape a punishment from his father, but along the way, Scoob learns about the grandfather he never met, the interracial couple’s 1963 road trip, and the ways in which the world has changed and remained the same.
Copies of Clean Getaway are available at the Goodnow Library. Call 978-440-5540 to reserve a copy for contactless pickup. The ebook and audiobook is also available for free download through Overdrive (Sudbury residents only).
Sudbury CARES (Community Anti-Racism Education Series) is a community-wide initiative formed to create a space for everyone in our community to discuss and learn about racism, causes of systemic racism, and what can be done to counteract it.
