Powerful, infuriating and at times overwhelming,13th will get your blood boiling and tear ducts leaking…Electrifying.”

M. Dargis, The New York Times

“13th”* explores racial injustice in America. Starting with the 13th Amendment of the Constitution which outlawed slavery and involuntary servitude “except as a punishment for crime,” the film connects the dots between systemic forms of racism in the United States from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration.

Director Ava DuVernay is the highest grossing black woman director in American box office history. Her other films include “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Selma,” and “When They See Us.”
