I'm Not Racist, Am I? Registration for Community Film Screening
Saturday, February 27—Monday, March 1All DayOnlineOnlineZoom link will be provided, Sudbury, MA, 01752
Lincoln METCO Coordinating Committee and Sudbury Community for Racial and Social Justice is bringing a 90-minute feature documentary titled I'm Not Racist...Am I? to families in Lincoln, Sudbury, Hanscom, and Boston communities. All individuals that live, work, attend school, or have a connection to the Lincoln and Sudbury towns will have the opportunity (in the comfort of their own homes) to watch the film as a diverse group of remarkable teens and their families go through a yearlong exploration of race and racism. The screening will run from 9:00AM Saturday, February 27, 2021, through noon-time Monday, March 1, 2021.
After seeing the film, on March 3, 2021, at 6:30pm the Organizing Committee and Point Made Learning (producer of the film) will host a virtual discussion with a panel of people from the Lincoln, Sudbury, and Boston communities that uses the film content as a springboard for dialogue on race and identity. The 90-minute discussion will be facilitated by Point Made Learning facilitators via video conference. Point Made Learning will ask the panel questions about the film to get their perspective. The plan is that the community will have access to view the panel discussion via local network. (Still waiting on confirmation for this). The effort also focuses on the courageous voices of young people and provides Lincoln, Sudbury, and Boston METCO families with a forum for working together on local race-related issues.
In addition to the film viewing and the panel event, there will be an opportunity for community members to sign up to participate in facilitated small group discussions based on the movie.
This series of events is made possible by the financial support from The Sudbury Foundation, Ogden Trust, First Parish of Lincoln, Bemis Free Lecture Series, and anonymous donors. We have also received support from many Lincoln and Sudbury town groups including Lincoln Public Schools, W.I.D.E., Sudbury Public Library, plus more.
Registration for this event has now closed.
