Home Alone Staying Safe, Grades 4-6

Kids in 4th through 6th grade can register to attend a Home Alone Staying Safe class from South Shore Safety. The goal of the class is to keep kids safe at home, but also when they are out and about. Participants will have an age-appropriate discussion on stranger safety, Amber Alerts, and verbal assertiveness. Teachers will also demonstrate some basic safety moves with participants. The second portion of the class will cover safety while home alone, including home rules, basic first aid, choking prevention (how to do Heimlich on self and others), fire safety, answering the door, etc. Class includes a booklet and certificate of completion. Participants are asked to bring a nut-free snack to have during class break. Registration for this event opens on Monday, January 6 and is limited to 25 participants.
