Bookies book discussion group

Tuesday, April 257:00—8:45 PMConference RoomGoodnow Library21 Concord Rd, Sudbury, MA, 01776

The Bookies met to discuss Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. We had a fine discussion, with mixed regards for the novel published in 1930. We felt it was somewhat disjointed, but greatly appreciated the remarkable prose writing and challenging ideas and methods the author set forth.

We'll meet again on Tuesday, April 25, at 7 pm. to discuss a murder mystery, Mrs. Roosevelt's Confidante, by Susan Elia MacNeal, published in 2015.

Set during the early American intervention of WWII, British secretary and spy, Maggie Hope, meets with the first lady and seeks to unravel sordid espionage. All the while, Maggie becomes romantically involved, contends with high stakes military might, prominent dignitaries, including Winston Churchill, as well Mrs. Roosevelt's regard for social conditions in America. Let's see if the Bookies can match these high stakes at the next discussion table.
