The "Bookies" double-dealed to discuss the short stories, "Three Blind Mice", by Agatha Christie, and "The Dead", by James Joyce, and made a real killing! We hope the stakes go even higher with our next title, the novel, Pachinko, by Min Jin Lee. The title is the name of a slot-machine-like game readily found in Japan that unifies the central concerns of identity, homeland and belonging of four generations of a Korean and Japanese family in the 20th century. The "Bookies" will pull the lever on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 pm, when we share literary fortunes at our next discussion table.
