The Bookies seized the moment at our last meeting to discuss the vividly intense novella, Seize the Day, by Saul Bellow.

For our next discussion, we have chosen My Life and Hard Times, an autobiography by James Thurber, for the upcoming meeting on Tuesday, August 22, at 7 pm.

Published in 1933, this is one of the classic humorist's highly regarded books. If you haven't read Thurber, this is a wonderful introduction to his delightful humor, with a cast of warm, zany and cranky characters.  Though written during the Depression, hence Thurber's 'hard times', the Bookies can bet on 'good times' at the discussion table!
